Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the heads of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of the Interior and the FSB investigation team to create and maintain the course of the investigation of the murder of Boris Nemtsov under his personal supervision, spokesman for the Russian president Dmitry Peskov said.
"Russian President Vladimir Putin was immediately told about the murder of Boris Nemtsov in Moscow. The head of state instructed the heads of the RF IC, the Interior Ministry and the FSB investigation team to be set up to investigate the assassination of the politician and to take control of the investigation," Peskov claimed.
"Putin said that this brutal murder has all the hallmarks of a contract killing and is purely provocative," he added.
"The President of the Russian Federation expresses his deepest condolences to the family and friends of Boris Nemtsov who died tragically," the press secretary of the head of state is quoted by RIA Novosti.
