According to the results of presidential elections, Serzh Sargsyan came to power on February 19th 2008 in Armenia. Those who disagreed with the results organized a protest that escalated into clashes with the police. As a result of the clashes, on March 1st 10 people were killed and more than 260 were injured.
The press conference's participants came to the conclusion that the investigation was a whitewash, and if the crime has not been solved in seven years, it can't be expected to be solved in the future.
A temporary parliamentary commission to investigate the tragic events of March 1-2, 2008 had previously been functioning in the Armenian parliament. It was established at the request of the PACE. However, on March 10th 2014 deputies of the National Assembly of Armenia rejected the initiative to establish an interim parliamentary commission to investigate the events of March 1st-2nd 2008.
