NATO sees no need for Russia's proposal to create a new security
structure in Europe, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said
on Friday in a speech in Brussels, RIA Novosti reports.
In the summer of 2008, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev proposed a
new mechanism to maintain peace in Europe, to prevent the monopoly of
the state or an organization for providing security. The agreement
project on European security was published on the president's site on
November 29, 2009.
At a summit in Nicosia (Cyprus) Medvedev said that some countries
relate security with NATO, others - with the EU. He emphasized that
the establishment of a new organization does not mean imply an
anti-NATO policy.
