Several people, including one woman, have announced their intention to run for the presidency in Kazakhstan’s upcoming snap election, a member of the Central Electoral Commission Marat Sarsembayev said.
"There are four or five self-nominated candidates, including one woman," News-Kazakhstan agency sited Sarsembayev as saying.
He said that they cannot yet be called candidates, because they must be supported through the subscription lists in 11 regions of the country and make an election contribution.
"Afterwards, they can claim for their surnames to be included on the secret ballot paper,” Sarsembayev noted.
