U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia Victoria Nuland said today that U.S. sanctions imposed on Crimea in December 2014 will be lifted as soon as Kiev restores its control over the peninsula, RIA Novosti reports.The official noted that the U.S. was fine with lifting some anti-Russian sanctions in exchange for Russia’s compliance with the Minsk Agreements. Nuland emphasized that the sanctions were not related to economic restrictions imposed on Crimea.
