Cameron threatens Russia with severer sanctions

British Prime Minister David Cameron said that the West must be prepared to give a hard long-term response to Russia's actions.

According to the head of the British Government, he and other leaders are ready to take sanctions against Russia to "a whole different level" if Moscow increases its aggression.

"If Russia is going to rip up the rule book of the 21st century and destabilize a sovereign country, then the rest of the world should be prepared to say to Russia, ‘Well you can’t rip up one part of the international rule book while still having access to international markets, international finance, international systems," RBC cited him as saying.

Cameron added that Western leaders would be willing to impose sanctions at "a whole different level," if there is another surge in violence in eastern Ukraine.

The UK prime minister stressed that the western nations should prepare themselves for a long-term struggle against Russia.
