Iran’s Parliament Speaker in Armenia on a two-day working visit

A delegation headed by the Speaker of Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ali Larijani, arrived in Armenia on October 8 on a two-day working visit,  Public Radio of Armenia reports.

Mr Larijani met his Armenian counterpart, Hovik Abramyan. The politicians declared that the relations between the two countries are friendly and and emphasized the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation that could contribute to the strengthening of bilateral ties.

During the meeting reference was made to the relations between the countries of the region and the existing problems. Hovik Abramyan said Armenia wishes to live in peace with its neighbors and all issues should be settled through negotiations.

As for the Karabakh conflict, the Armenian Parliamentary Speaker said it should be resolved within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group proceedings and that the involvement of the NKR authorities in the talks is very important. Armenian-Turkish relations were discussed as well.

According to Ali Larijani’s assessment, cooperation between Armenia and Iran can contribute greatly to the successful development of the region.
