European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker has proposed that the EU acquire its own army.
"Such an army would help us to create a common foreign and security policy, as well as bring the responsibility of Europe (for the events) in the world together," RIA Novosti quoted hi.
Juncker thinks that with such an army the EU will be able to respond to threats to EU member states and neighboring countries.
He added that in this way Europe will make Russia understand that "we are serious about upholding the values of the European Union."
Some members of the Bundestag already support Juncker's initiative, including the head of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Norbert Rettgen, according to whom the time for the creation of such an army has arrived.
