Russian MP says Munich Security Conference persuaded U.S. to refrain from supplying Ukraine with weapons

 

Constantine Kosachev, the head of Russia’s Federation Council committee on international affairs, said that the Munich Security Conference persuaded the U.S. to refrain from sending weapons to Ukraine, TASS reports.Kosachev noted that many Europeans were against military means of solving the conflict.German Chancellor Angela Merkel met with U.S. President Barack Obama at the White House on February 9. After the meeting, Obama decided not to send weapons to Ukraine, according to German Ambassador to the U.S. Peter Wittig.
