Matvienko: our goal is to prevent the coming of a new Nazism

Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko has recorded a video message, which will be officially broadcast in the parliaments of the seven states of the Commonwealth during March-April, as part of the action 'Marathon of Memory'.

She addressed veterans of the Great Patriotic War living in the CIS countries with words of gratitude for their heroic deeds, and noted that the goal of the current policy is to prevent the coming of a new Nazism.

According to Izvestia newspaper, Valentina Matvienko reminds that the outcome of the bloodiest war in history was decided in the battles that took place on the territory of the Soviet Union.

"The war touched every family. People of all nationalities rose to defend their homeland, the residents of all Soviet republics. And we won. That's why Victory Day is our common holiday. A holiday that is sacred to the citizens of all countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States," the speaker of the Federation Council said.
