Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, receiving the Deputy Secretary General of the European External Action Service, Helga Schmid, said that the expansion and strengthening of strategic cooperation between Tajikistan and the European Union is of great importance.
"The European Union can see Tajikistan as a reliable partner in the region," TASS cited him. Rahmon said that Tajikistan is the first line of defense in the fight against modern threats and challenges.
Schmid, for her part, highly appraised the role of Tajikistan in providing stability and security in the region and establishing peace and accord in Afghanistan.
Schmid also said that the EU is ready to assist Tajikistan and other countries in the region.
