Ban Ki-moon: UNSC should put an end to extremism in Syria

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said that the UN Security Council should take concrete steps towards ending the crisis in Syria. The UN chief noted that thousands of Syrians had come out on the streets in March 2011 with demands for political reforms, facing a violent response from the Syrian government, RIA Novosti reports.The secretary general noted that fighting terrorist organizations like Daesh should not draw attention away from the Syrian people.Ban Ki-moon reminded that the Security Council had demonstrated success in moving chemical weapons out of Syria and providing the population with humanitarian aid.
