Kazakhstani ex-PM Ahmetov charged with series of crimes

Serik Ahmetov, an ex-prime minister and defense minister of Kazakhstan, has been charged with illegal acquisition of property, graft, illegal business, abuse of authority, Interfax reports.

The prosecutor from the Karaganda Ovlast studied materials of the case and said that they were enough to charge the official. Investigators of the 5-month case say that Ahmetov's actions resulted in damage worth over 1 billion tenge (185.35 tenge = $1).
