Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said that Ukraine had contracts on purchase of weapons with EU countries. He added that the EU embargo on exports of weapons to Ukraine was lifted, RIA Novosti reports.
U.S. Ambassador to Kiev Jeffrey Payette said that President Barack Obama had not made a decision on exports of lethal weapons to Ukraine, Interfax Azerbaijan reports.
The diplomat noted that the U.S. had no doubts about the need to protect Ukraine's sovereignty. He reminded that the U.S. had provided Ukraine with $119 million to buy equipment and train troops.
U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden told Poroshenko this week that the U.S. will grant additional $75 million to buy armored vehicles, drones, anti-missile systems and radio coding systems.
