Pro-government forces in Iraq are planning to liberate the key town of Tikrit from the militant terrorist group "Islamic State" within one week.
In recent days around the city, located 180 km from Baghdad, fierce fighting took place, but yesterday the military operation was suspended until the arrival of reinforcements of government troops.
"IS militants still control about 70% of the center of Tikrit. Pro-government forces are going to fully occupy the city during the week, even if they have to keep fighting for every street," the commander is quoted by RIA Novosti.
