Zhelezniak: Kiev provokes breakdown of Minsk Agreements

The task of Russia is to unite all efforts, including international, in order to force Kiev to implement the Minsk peace agreements - this was said in an interview to Vestnik Kavkaza by the deputy chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Sergey Zhelezniak.

Speaking about the US role in this matter, Zhelezniak noted that since the beginning of the Ukrainian events Washington has taken a very proactive stance, putting pressure on the European countries and Russia.

In addition, he noted that Russia must act in the interests of its people.

In the coming days, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine may take a vote on the definition of areas of Donbass, which should be subject to a special procedure for local governments.

According to the Minsk Agreement, today the term expires for making a regulation by Supreme Rada of Ukraine, which determines the list of areas of Donbas with special political and economic status.

On Thursday, March 12, the first deputy head of the presidential administration of Ukraine Vitaliy Kovalchuk said that the Verkhovna Rada may consider identifying areas with special status in the next week.

Yesterday the heads of the self-proclaimed LPR and DPR, Igor Plotnitsky and Alexander Zakharchenko, called on French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel to exert pressure on Kiev up to the introduction of personal and economic sanctions.
