Russia's Northern Fleet put on combat alert

Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered the Northern Fleet and certain units of airborne forces and the Western Military District to be put on full combat alert from 8:00 a.m. Moscow time on Monday as part of snap checks, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said at the National Defense Management Center.


He said the check will involve almost 40,000 military, more than 55 warships and submarines, and 110 planes and helicopters, TASS reports.
