Yunus-Bek Yevkurov: "Ingushetia was saved by joining Russia"

Today, the Republic of Ingushetia celebrates the 245th anniversary of the voluntary entry of Ingushetia into the Russian state. The head of the republic, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, told Vestnik Kavkaza that only joining Russia helped to save the Ingush people and only because of this is Ingushetia a republic now.

"Being part of Russia gave today's modern Ingushetia development, the formation of Ingushetia, its statehood. Why? Because from that period the Russian people treated not only the Ingush better than their native Russian citizens, but all small nations. Due to this, we have today's modern Ingushetia as a constituent of the Russian Federation. We have not lost, we were reborn thanks to the decision of our wise ancestors," he said.

Yunus-Bek Yevkurov also spoke about the program of the festival. According to him, most of the activities are patriotic and morally orientated: children and young people will be able to learn the details of Ingushetia joining with Russia.

"We will hold quite serious events, starting with the patriotic, spiritual and moral education of young people, because corners where young people can learn about Russia, the unity, the role of our people, our ancestors, are open in all schools and museums," the head of Ingushetia said.

"And after that, events will be held throughout the country. More precisely, it is already underway. In particular, a number of important sites were opened, and the main ceremony will take place in June and July. It will be a concert at the Kremlin Palace," he added.
