The leaders of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan exchanged views on relevant regional and international issues of mutual interest at a high level, the Turkmen government said today.
The statement says that the discussion took place during a telephone conversation between the President of Turkmenistan and the President of Uzbekistan.
In particular, the sides stressed the commitment of both countries to regional and global efforts in such important areas as ecology.
"As is known, while holding an active position on this issue, Turkmenistan put forward specific initiatives, in particular, a proposal to establish a specialized structure under the auspices of the UN, namely, a regional center for technologies related to climate change in Central Asia," Trend cited the statement.
The presidents have also discussed the prospects of cooperation between the two countries in key areas, especially the transport and communication sector, where Ashkhabad made a number of initiatives supported by the Uzbek side. They are being consistently implemented.
