Slovak president to skip Victory Day celebrations in Moscow

Slovak President Andrej Kiska will not partake in the celebrations of the Victory Day in Moscow on May 9, as stated by spokesman of the president’s office Markin Liptak, RIA Novosti reports.

The president will pay homage to the Soviet soldiers liberating Slovakia. Candles will be lit in cemeteries from the Dukla Pass in the east to Slavin in the center of Bratislava.

Spokesman of the Slovak Foreign Ministry Peter Stano said that Bratislava has been holding active debates on who will represent the country in Moscow.
