Police forces are gathering for the upcoming action of the UNM in Tbilisi

 

Employees of the patrol police from 14.00 blocked vehicular traffic in the center of Tbilisi in connection with the protest demanding the resignation of the government, which is being held on Freedom Square today by the former ruling party 'United National Movement' (UNM).

 

At the moment, Roses Square, Rustaveli Avenue, Freedom Square and Pushkin Street are blocked off. Police officers are dispersed outside the perimeter of the place of the demonstration, which is scheduled to start at 16:00 Tbilisi time. A significant number of police officers are concentrated at the State Chancellery, near Freedom Square, 'News-Georgia' writes.

 

At the moment, several hundred people have gathered on the central square of the capital, a stage and a large monitor have been put up, on which an address by former president Mikheil Saakashvili will be televised. The majority of the protesters will make their way towards Freedom Square after 15.00 in an organized column. According to the latest data, convoys of UNM supporters are moving in the direction of Tbilisi to join the demonstration.
