The national intelligence agencies of Afghanistan have prevented the attempted murder of vice-president Abdul Rashid Dostum. A suicide bomber was planning to attack the politician during a horse racing event, the National Directorate for Security said.
According to the National Directorate for Security, extremists have been preparing for the murder of the vice president for a long time. This is the second attempt on the Afghan vice president's life. In November 2014 the security services captured four extremists, including suicide bombers, who were planning a large-scale terrorist attack in Kabul.
