President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will use the Savarona, the yacht of the founder of the Turkish Republic, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, to host heads of state as well as accompany during official visits. Restoration work on the boat is continuing, Tourism and Culture Minister Ömer Çelik said.
“The yacht might accompany the President in his foreign visits or to host heads of state. In this way, the President will be able to host dinners on Turkish soil,” RIA Novosti cited Çelik.
The yacht was used to host a foreign leader the first time during Erdogan’s rule at the beginning of the March: he hosted the chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bakir Izetbegovic, aboard the Savarona.
