Russian President Vladimir Putin has some influence on the self-defense forces of the Donbass, however he cannot give them orders, presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told Norwegian daily Dagbladet in an interview.
"Contrary to what NATO and European countries say, the self-defense forces in Donbass are not our puppets. President Putin has some influence on them because they respect him, but he cannot order them to lay down arms," TASS cited him as saying.
