Azerbaijan’s participation in the G20 summit shows the high level of the country’s economy, Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ismail Alper Coskun said. According to him, Turkey held no discussions on inviting Azerbaijan to the summit.
"Once it became known that Turkey, which has chaired the G20 since December 1, 2014, has the right to invite one country to the G20 summit, the idea of inviting Azerbaijan arose immediately. As Turkey’s ambassador to Azerbaijan. I was very pleased with this," Trend cited the diplomat.
Coskun noted that Azerbaijan would be represented at the highest level during the summit within Turkey’s chairmanship of the G20 in the Turkish city of Antalya on November 15-16.
Before the summit, a meeting of foreign ministers, finance ministers and heads of the central banks of the G20 countries will be held. Moreover, a meeting of energy ministers will be held for the first time within the G20.
According to the diplomat, Azerbaijan's participation in the G20 summit shows the country's ability to influence the regional and global economy, within the bilateral cooperation with Turkey, as well as trilateral cooperation, including with Georgia (taking into account all the economic projects that are being implemented).
"Azerbaijan’s participation in the G20 summit will allow discussion about the global-scale contribution that can be made with the joint economic projects of Turkey and Azerbaijan. This will also allow new ideas to be put forward during the summit," Coskun stressed.
