Three candidates to compete for the presidental post in Kazakhstan

The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) of Kazakhstan has refused to register four self-nominated contenders for the presidency of Kazakhstan.

Secretary of the Electoral Commission Bakhyt Meldeshov said that the decision to refuse the registration was made due to the fact that these candidates did not submit the number of necessary documents and there were less than 93 thousand signatures in their support handed to the Commission.

To date, the presidential candidates are current President Nursultan Nazarbayev, the Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist People's Party Turgun Syzdykov and the Chairman of the Labor Unions Federation Abelgazi Kusainov.

Early presidential elections in Kazakhstan will be held on 26 April.
