Garibashvili: we to go ahead with efforts to normalize dialog with Russia

Georgia will continue with the policy of constructive relations with Russia, Prime Minister Irakly Garibashvili said.


Over the past two and a half years "our constructive policies and new pragmatic approaches have succeeded in de-escalating tensions in relations with Russia," the head of government said. At the same time, speaking about relations with Russia, Garibashvili said that "on the political track there has been no special progress, but there are improvements in the trade and economic sphere." He added that Georgia will continue to maintain "a constructive and pragmatic policy towards Russia in the future."


"It is important to ensure that our main partners, such as the United States and the European countries, support us in our policies towards normalizing relations with Russia," Garibashvili pointed out.


Garibashvili also said that Georgia is continuing the policy of integration into the European Union and looks forward to the abolition of the visa regime with the EU. "We have signed a historic document (an association agreement with the EU), and the process is going very well, I am personally supervising the process of implementation," RIA Novosti cited the Georgian PM
