US Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter, speaking at a conference at the State Department, said that the authorities intend to continue to support the Syrian opposition in the fight against Islamic State.
He noted that "the lasting defeat of IS requires the US to work closely with different agencies of the government," RIA Novosti reports.
According to the minister, "it requires the US to work with the State Department and Agency for International Development to support the government of Iraq and the nascent Syrian opposition."
