Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Kiev is making attempts to put brakes on the settlement of the situation in south-eastern Ukraine.
"Now all the efforts should be applied to restore the political process with regard to the Minsk Agreements. And here we can see Kiev slowing down," he said.
The Minister stressed that by bypassing the Minsk Agreements, Kiev does not consider tge leaders of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics as negotiating partners, while Moscow insists on the need to intensify the work of the Contact Group. "We insist that the Contact Group should be engaged in full," TASS cited Lavrov as saying.
He stressed that Moscow proposed setting up working subgroups on each item of the Minsk agreements within the framework of the Contact Group. "Kiev has been heard saying "yes", but in fact it has been stalling the process and only these days is some movement appearing," he said.
According to Lavrov, this idea should be put into practice and Moscow would seek this.
