Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is open to dialogue with the United States, but on condition of respect for Syrian sovereignty.
"Any dialogue is positive in principal, of course, without pressuring the sovereignty of Syria," RIA Novosti cited his interview with television network CBS.
But Assad stressed that such dialogue would need to be based on mutual respect.
