Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed an edict to establish the Federal Agency for Nationalities. He had earlier informed Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev about readiness to sign the edict. Putin had ordered on March 13 that the government present proposals on the federal agency by April 15, Interfax reports.
The Federal Agency for Nationalities will focus on realizing the state policy in interethnic and interreligious relations, strengthen interethnic relations in the country, develop cultures of ethnicities, realize related state programs, monitor interethnic and interreligious relations.
