The head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan, Malena Mard, said that the current status quo in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is unacceptable to the EU and stressed that the EU attaches great importance to the territorial integrity principle.
"The EU supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. This has been indicated in the agreement signed by the sides in 1996. The OSCE Minsk Group is engaged in the conflict settlement and we support its activity,” Trend cited her as saying.
Also she said that the EU is ready to start negotiations on joint airspace with Azerbaijan. The issue of creating joint airspace between Azerbaijan and the EU will be discussed during the EU summit in Riga in May 2015. "We are ready to start negotiations this year if Azerbaijan agrees," Mard said.
