The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has given a positive reaction to the statement of Malena Mard, the EU chief representative to Azerbaijan, who called preservation of the status quo in Nagorno-Karabakh unacceptable, 1news.az reports.
Spokesman of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Khikmet Hajiyev emphasized that the situation was conditioned by the aggression of Armenia against Azerbaijan and its territories. Only the withdrawal of Armenian forces can alter the status, in his words.
The spokesman added that Armenia’s occupation of Azerbaijani territories was the main threat to peace and security in the South Caucasus Region.
