The introduction of a single currency in the Eurasian Economic Union is off the current agenda, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko told Bloomberg.
“How will this currency union function or how will the single currency work? This issue should be the last one on the agenda,” RIA Novosti cited him.
According to the President of Belarus, the Eurasian Economic Union is facing so many challenges besides this one now.
“When we discussed the single currency in Astana, Putin said that we will face the single currency issue in order to expand our economic cooperation. Maybe we will face it as the European Union chose the euro, maybe. However, it is not today's matter," Lukashenko stressed.
However, he noted that they did not talk about the introduction of a single currency in some definite period.
