Kerry says Iran's interference in the events in Yemen is unacceptable

The US does not want confrontation with Iran, but it will not stand by while Iran provides support to Shiite rebels, US Secretary of State John Kerry Kerry told PBS television in an interview.

"We certainly do not seek confrontation, but we're not going to step away from our alliances and our friendships and the need to stand with those who feel threatened as a consequence of the choices that Iran might be making," the head of US diplomacy said.

"Iran needs to recognize that the United States is not going to stand by while the region is destabilized or while people engage in overt warfare across lines - international boundaries - in other countries," TASS cited Kerry.

"We've made clear to our friends and allies that we can do two things at the same time," Kerry said, confirming that the US will continue to support the military operation against the rebels in Yemen, started by a group of Arab states led by Saudi Arabia.
