French lawmaker wants president to attend WWII Victory celebrations in Moscow

 

Thierry Mariani, the head of the French delegation, said at a meeting with the Federation Council, that it would be exceptionally important for French President Francois Hollande to attend the Victory Day celebrations in Moscow on May 9.It would emphasize the joint efforts of Russia and France in fighting against fascism during WWII, assumes the French politician. Mariani reminded about the Normandie-Niemen Regiment that had shown courage during the war.He noted that the National Assembly and the French Senate had not discussed the sanction issue.
