A meeting of the head of the International Committee of the State Duma, Alexei Pushkov, and US Ambassador to Russia, John Tefft, was held today.
"The following questions were discussed: is it possible to improve US-Russian relations in the current situation, when there are cardinal differences in interests and approaches to the Ukrainian crisis and European security? What are the areas of intersecting interests of Russia and the United States, and how can we cooperate in these areas in an atmosphere of total political confrontation between Moscow and Washington?" TASS cited the press service of the Committee.
At the meeting Tefft and Pushkov agreed that Cold War rhetoric has a destructive impact on bilateral relations.
