One of the leaders of Islamic State was killed in the north-east of the city of Tikrit.
The terrorist known as Abu Maria was killed during a cleansing operation conducted by the armed forces of Iraq. Several assistants of the leader were also eliminated.
The operation was implemented on the basis of data provided by the Iraqi Intelligence Service. Abu Maria was a self-proclaimed 'governor' of two districts in the province of Salah al-Din of Islamic State, TASS reports.
