The chairman of the State Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs, Alexei Pushkov, after a meeting with the chairman of the Committee for Foreign Policy and National Security of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, said that the tandem of Russia and Iran is able to stabilize the region of Central Asia and the Middle East.
"Of course, the tandem of Russia and Iran can play a beneficial role in terms of stabilizing the region, which has been destabilized," TASS cited him.
"Once upon a time in the United States, this region was called 'the arc of instability' - from the Middle East to Pakistan, and now it is the arc of continuous wars," he said. "From Libya to Pakistan we have a war in Libya, a war in Yemen, military actions in Syria, Iraq, and a very unstable situation in Pakistan," the deputy stressed.
