The deputy chairman of the Russian Federation Council, Ilyas Umakhanov, in an interview with Vestnik Kavkaza, said that the presentation of the Friendship Order to Milli Majlis chairman Oqtay Asadov is confirmation of the strategic course of Russia on collaboration and cooperation with Azerbaijan in the economic, humanitarian and social spheres, commenting on Asadov receiving the award from the chair of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matviyenko, during a meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS.
The ceremony took place after talks attended by Valentina Matvienko, Ilyas Umakhanov and the First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs, Vladimir Dzhabarov.
