Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said that people from Scandinavian countries, who joined Islamic State and became its leaders, represent the greatest threat to Syria.
"The most dangerous leaders of IS in our region are Scandinavians…that’s what we have as information," RIA Novosti cited him as saying.
The head of the SAR said terrorism is not a domestic issue, it’s not even regional, it’s global. Assad also thanked the Swedish authorities for offering asylum to Syrian refugees.
"I think that’s something that’s appreciated around the world, not only in our country, and this humanitarian stand of Sweden is appreciated regarding different conflicts, including the Syrian one," President Assad said.
