Washington Post journalist charged with espionage in Iran

 

Jason Rezaian, the head of the Washington Post bureau in Tehran since 2012, who was detained in Iran last summer, has been charged with espionage, TASS reports.Holam Hossein Ismaili, the director general of the justice department of the Tehran Province, confirmed the journalist’s arrest in late July 2014.Rezaian’s family hired a lawyer. However, the advocate was not allowed to attend the court session on Saturday due to the delicacy of the case. He said that a full-scale process may be announced in no earlier than a month.
