Russian Defense Ministry reports on North Caucasus draft

The Russian Defense Ministry sent more than 12,000 young people to serve in the North Caucasus and Southern federal districts as a part of autumn's conscription drive, RIA Novosti reports, quoting a ministry spokesperson.

The number of people wishing to perform alternative civilian service remains low. Altogether only 100 people will perform alternative civilian service during the fall of 2010.
