Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko, together with the St. Petersburg deputies and representatives of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly took part in a symbolic tree-planting stock dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The action "Green Wave" was organized on the initiative of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (IPA) of the CIS in the towns and villages of the Commonwealth.
Participants of the rally planted 70 pine trees in Piskarevskiy Park in St. Petersburg, which is located next to the namesake Memorial Cemetery.
"Valentina Matviyenko thanked all those, who took part in the planting of trees and noted the importance of the fact that the action was supported by many countries of the Commonwealth," a press service of the CIS IPA told TASS.
