Data Akhalaia set free by Greek court

Data Akhalaia has been set free by a Greek court. 


According to Data Akhalaia’s lawyer, the former head of the Constitutional Safety Department of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs has been acquitted.

 

"The court refused to extradite Data Akhalaia to Georgia," Interfax-Azerbaijan cites him as saying.

 

Data Akhalaia was persecuted by the Greek law-enforcement bodies for production of forged documents. In Georgia he was condemned to 3 years and 9 months in prison for abuse of office. He was also charged with illegal suppression of freedom and forgery.
