Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed has been appointed the UN special envoy to Yemen.
According to the press service of the organization, the post of UN special envoy to Yemen has been given to North African diplomat Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed.
Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed replaced the Moroccan Jamal Benomaru, who resigned in mid-April.
The new special envoy to Yemen had been heading the UN mission on the emergency response to the Ebola virus. Now it is temporarily headed by Dutchman Pieter Jan Graaf, TASS reports.
