Ban Ki-moon has called on Europe not to solve migration problems by means of military force.
Today the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon called on Europe to abandon military solutions to the problem of migrants, the website of the Italian newspaper La Stampa reports.
"There is no military solution to the tragedy in the Mediterranean Sea," he said in his interview. "It is important to develop a common approach that takes into account the roots of the problem, the safety and rights of migrants and refugees," Interfax cites him as saying.
According to Ban Ki-moon, who is to visit Italy tomorrow, "the UN is ready to work with our European partners in this direction."
