Mustafa Akinci has won the elections and become the leader of the Turkish Cypriot community. According to preliminary information, Mustafa Akinci is winning the second round of the presidential elections on the territory of the internationally unrecognized Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
According to the count of votes, at 506 out of 693 polling stations Akinci received 60.51% of the votes cast. The current leader of the Turkish Cypriots, Dervis Eroglu, received 39.49%. In the first round of elections, the difference between them was less than 2 percentage points. The headquarters of Akinci is already celebrating his victory.
