Resolving the economic problems of the Islamic Republic is independent of settling the nuclear case, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said during a meeting with laborers in Tehran. The meeting took place ahead of International Workers' Day on May 1.
"The key to solving the economic problems is not in Lausanne, Geneva or New York, but in Iran,” IRNA cited him.
According to Khamenei, the Iranian administration should focus on domestic production.
He stressed that he does not deny the effects of the oppressive sanctions, but it should not prevent organized and planned public efforts to boost domestic production.
“There will be nothing impossible if you make decision and efforts, even under the terms of the tough sanctions,” Khamanei said.
He further noted that Iran's government should ban using imported goods.
