Iran: IAEA cannot check non-nuclear military facilities

The Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General, Hassan Firouzabadi, said that the Iranian military would not allow the IAEA inspectors to verify the non-nuclear military facilities.

"Iranian military officials are not allowed to let foreigners go through the country's security-defense shield and fence," he said in the letter to the Iranian delegation.

Firouzabadi, appreciating the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and other members of the delegation, at the same time warned them to take good care not to be trapped in the political and nuclear talks with the US.

"Iran's military officials are not at all allowed to stop the country's defense development and progress on the pretext of supervision and inspection and the country's defense development and capabilities should not be harmed in the talks," TASS cited him as saying.

According to him, Iran cannot trust Washington on security issues and it should be protected by the terms of the definitive agreement, which would allow Iran to immediately abandon its commitments to limit its nuclear program if the other party will refrain from carrying out its part of the deal.

"Iran's national security necessitates the guaranteed irreversibility of the sanctions removal and this is not an issue for bargaining, trade or compromise," the general said in his message.
